Freedom Make Up London Dupes

Freedom Makeup London is a new brand in town. I feel like they may have been created by the same company that has created Make Up Revolution and I HEART MAKEUP, but I could be wrong. That's just the impression I get from the website, the pricing and the products on offer. However, enough about the background of the brand and onto the make-up, more importantly their incredible dupes of high end products. A new make up brand duping well loved brands products can be largely sceptical for make up lovers and bloggers but I was determined to try them out.

During Black Friday they offered 50% off on some of their best selling products, taking advantage of this, I put the Priming Water, Glow Tonic, Oil Control Base Lotion and Anti-Shine Fixing Spray into my basket. Delivery took almost two weeks but this was expected with the popularity of Black Friday. Having gotten to grips with all the product this past week I can safely say it was a purchase I was very happy with despite my initial doubts.

Dupe of the Smashbox Priming Water
I use this before applying make up to hydrate my skin after sleeping and it is so refreshing! I feel so hydrated and ready for the day once I have sprayed this on my face. I let the water sink into my skin for a while before putting on the oil control lotion and then apply my make up. I have noticed a major difference in the smoothness of my make up application with the combination of the two products. It is pretty much identical to the Smashbox Primer, the only differnece is you get the Freedom Priming Water for a fraction of the price, I definitely recommend this if you prefer a lightweight primer or a spray to refresh your skin before and after make up application.

Dupe of the Pixi Glow Tonic
The Pixi Glow Tonic has been raved about all over the blogesphere so when I noticed Freedom had their own version of the Glow Tonic, naturally it went #StraightInMyBasket. I don't own the Pixi version of the glow tonic so do not have much to compare it to, but the Freedom glow tonic has been great for my skin! It looks instantly more awake and radiant when I use this. Freedom recommends using this morning and evening, and that over time your face will look more youthful and redness, bumps and such will disappear. That is a challenge I definitely accept!
Dupe of the MAC Oil Control Lotion
My favourite of the products I purchased. working in a pub with hot glasses, hot food and constantly rushing around means come two hours into a shift and I'm already an oily mess and my foundation has already melted. Having used this for the week, I have noticed a major improvement in my make up lasting longer and I don't have an oily face the end of the day! Something I have struggled with my whole life. This is a god send for people who suffer from an oily t-zone like me and work in busy and heated environments.
Dupe of the Urban Decay Deslick All Nighter Setting Spray
There are so many fixing sprays in the beauty world now, but this one intrigued me for its anti-shine properties and the promise of make up lasting 12 hours, a heavy promise indeed. I have used this at work and it does make me my make up last longer, but not 12 hours and I do become oily towards the end of the shift usually (1am) if I only use this and not with the oil control base. However, I do think it is a great product for setting make up into place and getting rid of that cakey look some foundations often give.

The brand also has dupes of Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Book and Dip Brow Pomade and cream and powder contour kits, these are all definitely on my wish list after Christmas time. The contour kits also feature a strobing cream very similar in formula to the MAC Strobe cream!

Do you own anything by Freedom Make Up ?

Blogging Goals for 2016

We are always looking for ways to improve and grow in all forms of life, and blogging is the one thing I want to improve on in the new year! I'm sure nobody is truly happy with their blog, I certainly aren't. After Christmas, my 50 hour weeks at work will no doubt be cut in half leaving me with plenty of time to start writing lots of posts for my blog and find ways to improve it. I think writing a list of blogging goals really helps to keep these goals in mind, and I'm sure they will be helpful to others to as well as helpful to me.

1. Find the balance between work and blogging

2. Post at least twice a week

3. Invest in a better camera to take great pictures

4. Have 1000 followers by the end of 2016

5. Start a weekly recurring series

6. Find the perfect flatlay for my props and products

7. Use Pintrest more

8. Interact with other blogers and comment more

9. Meet a fellow blogger

10. Start advertising my blog more on other social media

What are your blogging goals for 2016?

The Highlighter That Changed The Game

Mary Lou-Manizer by the Balm cosmetics became somewhat of a cult late last year, since then, every beauty blogger owns this product or wants to own it, and if not at least try it! I was lucky enough to spot one left in stock in my local Superdrug and I picked it and ran to the till so quick that it probably beat the world record of Usain Bolt. Having owned it for a good three weeks now, I can safely say that I truly understand the hype about this highlighter.

the Balm says: Meet Mary-Lou Manizer, a seemingly innocent honey-hued luminizer that catches everybody’s eye. This highlighter, shadow and shimmer diffuses light so your skin looks softer and younger while adding a subtle glow.

This has become my go to highlighter ever since I got it, I just can't stop wearing it as I know that it will compliment every eye make up or lip look I will wear. Even on days where I can't be bothered with make up at work, I'll wear concealer, bronzer and add a touch of Mary Lou-Manizer on the tip of my nose and above my cheekbones so that I look semi alive! I have yet to use it as an eyeshadow, mainly because I feel I own far too many eyeshadows and eyeshadow palettes as it is and I dare ditch them all for this beauty!

It gives off such a beautiful golden glow as you can see by the swatch and the pigmentation is incredible, so be very careful with a heavy brush or hand as you can see in the picture... oops. I truly believe this colour highlighter is the perfect shade to suit all skin tones as it's pale enough for lighter skin tones but has that amazing glow to really compliment olive tones and darker skin tones.

Unfortunately, there is one big major flaw with this product that everyone fears, and that is that it breaks so easily, so if you are a big traveller, this highlighter is probably best left at home safely unless you want to bubble wrap it about 100 times... So be careful! Although, the pan is flimsy and easy to break, it looks as it will last for a long time as a three weeks daily wear and there is barely a noticeable dent in it, hooray!

1. Thinking you are going to be extra productive and write hundreds of to do lists, then find said to do lists weeks later untouched.

2. Having an endless amount of samples, that you never use.
This look similar, guys?

3. The struggle of your house being dull all through winter making it so difficult to take decent photos of swatches, products and getting the perfect lighting.

4. Walking out of the department store with your hand full of swatches.

5. When writers block strikes and you have no draft posts, leaving you with staring at a blank white page for hours on end.

6. Trawling through all the quirky homeware shops as you know you will eventually find that perfect piece for a photo prop!

7. Spotting a pretty building and instantly thinking "this would look good on my Instagram"

8. Almost getting too excited you pee when you find a great dupe for a fraction of the price.

9. Seeing that highlighter you've wanted for ages is back in stock, but then realise you already bought six that week already. (Happened this week to me, oops, still got the other highlighter!)

10. Blogging is seriously hard work, and only we seem to understand this!

eBay Christmas Presents for the: Vintage Homeware Lover

With Halloween out the picture and a Christmas advert already on TV, it's officially time to start thinking about Christmas and what presents to buy people. I only have four proper days off until Christmas to stock up on Christmas presents, so this year I will be relying on the perks of online shopping from sites such as eBay, Amazon and Argos.

Christmas time and working in busy town centre pub is a not good mix, therefore as well as having the lack of time to shop, my posts will be less often, as you have probably already noticed. I'm only allowed one main Christmas and New Year day off work and I chose Boxing Day, so I can have a relaxed day and try and see some family. This is also gives me quality time to take advantage of all my Christmas goodies to play with, which will mainly mean swatching all the make up, let's be real!

However, onto treating our loved ones, if you struggle with finding the time to shop for Christmas presents and have to rely on online shopping like me, eBay is a life saver this time of year. If you know someone who is into all thing vintage, chic and homeware, then these great eBay deals will be right up their street. (Or if you want to buy some sneaky purchases for yourself, because everyone deserves too!)

For the vintage chic lover:

I must admit I am very into the vintage look and my dream kitchen and home would include some of these! Unfortunately, I don't live on my own yet so it's a dream and not reality for a long while and my Christmas list will probably include make up and clothes.

What's on your Christmas list this year?

Top #5 Places to visit in Madrid

Back in May, I went to Madrid to surprise a friend for her birthday. I had the most incredible time and would love to go back soon and explore more places.

Goiko Grill
Of course a foodie place had to be on this list. Goiko Grill focuses mainly on providing great tasting burgers along with their amazing wedges. If you're a vegetarian, they also have a great option of non meat related burgers or you can order one of the burgers listed on the menu with no burger and enjoy all the veggies. Honestly, it was one of the best burgers of my entire life and I've had many many burgers!

Reina SofĂa Art Museum
If you're feeling cultural then a trip to the art galleries and museums in Madrid are a must. When I visited I took the chance to go to the Reina Sofia Museum. They have so many artists, from old school to contemporary. Not to mention, the famous Guernica painting by Picasso. It was so packed when I went that I could hardly catch a glimpse due to the barriers and the amount of people!

Gran Via
Gran Via has everything in terms of luxury shopping for those splurges or all the high street stores for a big old clothing haul. Obviously with the company that owns Zara being Spanish it has several shops in Gran Via including its sister companies Pull & Bear and Bershka. It is shopping heaven. A brand new Primark store has just opened in Gran Via and it looks incredible!! I want to go back just for the new Primark.

Buen Retiro Park
What would a trip to Madrid be, without visiting Buen Retiro Park and the Palacio de Cristal? There is so much to do in Retiro it would take a whole day to fully explore all that Retiro has to offer. When I visited, I made sure to go to the Crystal Palace (Palacio de Cristal) and to take advantage of the dingy boats in the lake. It was so hot on the day I was half tempted to jump out of the boat into the lake! The buildings and features across the park are so pretty, you really get a feel of the real Spain and Spanish culture.

Temple of Debod
This has to be my favourite place that I visited in Madrid. It was buzzing with people during sunset, but it was so peaceful and relaxing. People from all over the world and all walks of life joined to sit and watch the amazing sunset across Madrid's skyline and it was one of the best sunsets I've witnessed. I throughly recommend visiting the temple of Debod for the sunset and for the stunning views you get of the temple and skyline during it.

How to be Warm Yet Stylish on Nights Out

With the weather getting colder and the nights getting darker quicker, it can be a real struggle to find the effort to get dressed in the evening and enjoy yourself, whether it be cocktails, a dinner with friends or a full blown night out clubbing. One of the main problems is how can I still look stylish without freezing my nips off? To combat this everlasting problem many of us have, I've put together outfits and single pieces that can help keep us cosy and looking stylish and put together!

These are all from Missguided. Their A/W15 collection is to die for this season!

A gorgeous colour for the upcoming colder nights is grey! Velvet is back in this AW season and the dark grey colour is the perfect colour for someone who always wears black and wants to try something new (I'm guilty!). I wore a burgundy velvet dress from Missguided (Sold Out) for a friend's birthday drinks the other week, and it kept me so warm whilst everyone else was freezing! The ribbed knitted dress just reminded me of Balmain so much I had to include it. Balmain style for pennys, incredible! The classic grey jumper dress has also had an update this season with the off the shoulder trend that was big in the summer.

Longline coats were big last winter season, and they're big again this year. Again grey has made an appearance, I think it's such a versatile and refreshing colour to wear in the winter. Teamed with heels and a classic dress, the coat is the perfect statement for that catwalk entrance to places. If this grey wool coat was in Topshop or Zara it would easily surpass the £100 mark! The Khaki Blazer is too die for and so cheap at £35! Khaki has become so on trend recently, and with so many variations of khaki, I think this is my favourite shade. It would make any outfit instantly smart and stylish! Of course, I couldn't not include a black, long and sleek duster coat. We all black goes with every colour, pattern and outfit possible, therefore the black duster coat is an essential in winter to dress down an outfit.

If you'd prefer to ditch the blazers and coats, then why not opt for a long sleeved top or a snazzy jumper to make that outfit a bit more special? The fluffy black jumper is something I would definitely wear for casual drinks or for a light meal (my bulging belly does not need to be on show whilst stuffing my face), it's stylish with the crop trend and not too bulky so that you will end up melting away! The Mesh Panelled White Jumper is very Kim Kardashian-esque, is that even a word? If not I think it's about time Oxford added it to their dictionary. Finally, I opted to add an edgy jumper with fringe and frills to the collection. Jumpers are a staple in this cold weather and teamed with skinnies, boots or heels and a bunch of accessories, the jumper would make a great outfit for evening drinks.

Hope you liked my picks, what do you wear on a cold winter nights while out on the town?

Buying Into the Hype

There is no denying that the blogesphere is a big enabler in our spending habits. If we see a product being talked about a lot, we often rush out and try to find it as quick as possible before everybody else gets it and it becomes sold out. But, there is a big risk of buying a product just because it is hyped up. For example, what if we buy that 'amazing' bronzer only to find out it looks like a piece of orange mud on your face compared to everybody else? Or that 'holy grail' foundation that oxidises on your face or makes you look like an oil slick because research into the product wasn't done properly? I have been guilty of this many times, but I've picked out my most used products that have been highly hyped up for so long! You may already have half of these products or you may hate all of them, but the truth is the hype around them is undeniable.

Note:I don't drink gin, I just steal the empty bottles from work because they're so pretty!

The Autumn Tag

Winter is fast approaching this autumn, the weather is far more chilly than usual for this time of the year in the UK, and it's making me feel so cosy and excited for christmas. I was tagged by the lovely Megan from MeganJean to take part in the Autum tag, an ode to many people's favourite time of year!

All Aboard for Benefit's Air Patrol

Benefit Cosmetic's newest release Air Patrol was released earlier in the summer, and I recently received a free sample via the Twitter campaign by SoPost. The campaign is where you send one sample to a friend and in return, you hope they send one back to you! (Or if you have more than one account, you can be cheeky and send both to yourself). The product came packaged so nicely and included a 'boarding pass' providing details of the product and social media information of Benefit. This company always seem to hit the nail on the head in terms of marketing their products. It actually would be a dream job of mine to work for their marketing team, two of both my passions in one career!

ALERT!! Selfridges now stock NYX!

You read that right! Selfridges has NYX online and in store at Oxford Street!

NYX currently have a temporary pop up store at Selfridges Oxford Street and around 30 of their products are also available online, and these 30 products are most of their top rated products, including contour products, matte lipsticks and primers! I did an online order as soon as I noticed that Selfridges were selling NYX and waited patiently for my click and collect to be ready!

Top TV Picks This Autumn

Autumn in the UK means cold weather, fires on and sitting in front of the TV on days off trying to cosy up. What better way to cosy up in front of the fire with exciting TV shows?! I've compiled a list of my current favourite TV picks which range from drama packed series to jam packed horrors and comedies to mockumentaries. Check them out!

1. Empire

If you're big into the music industry or just simply love a drama packed show, Empire will be right up your street. The show centres on the Lyon family, father of the family Lucious Lyon transformed from a dangerous drug dealer into a top music mogul in the Hip-Hop industry, being CEO of Empire Entertainment. In the most British way possible, think Simon Cowell being a former drug dealer who is now one of the UK music industry's most respected men. The show focuses on problems for the family including deadly diseases, homophobia and family feuds. The show just kicked off its second series in America, and will be available to watch in the UK on E4 October 6th at 9pm.

2. Community

Community is probably most known for this clip. However, there's a lot more to the show. It's funny, light-hearted and so easy to watch. Now in it's sixth series, the show continues to grow in popularity. People of my age (22) may recognise Yvette Nicole Brown who plays Shirley in the show from Nickelodeon cult classic Drake and Josh and the obvious Ken Jeong for the infamous Mr. Chow from The Hangover series. The show's creator Dan Harmon based his own experience at community college around the show and it gives the show a sense of realism, despite it's humour and hundreds of parodies. If drama like Empire isn't your thing and you prefer a TV show to watch that is funny and charming, then I definitely recommend Community. (It's also on Netflix! Get searching)

3. Scream Queens

Scream Queen's debut was only last week, yet has already took the TV world by storm. Created by the legend Ryan Murphy famous for Glee and American Horror Story, the show sort of combines the two together, to create a gory and comedic university story. The show features a great ensemble cast of Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Ariana Grande, Nick Jonas, Abigail Breslin and Lea Michele. The show's set up has been confirmed to be similar to American Horror Story as an anthology, which I think is a great way to attract a much larger audience.

4. Parks and Recreation

If you liked The Office US then you'll love this! Amy Poehler's Leslie Knope is Pawnee's answer to Michael Scott, quirky, a little dim but so determined and passionate about her job. Although the TV show has officially ended, there is no reason why you can't still start watching this to ease into the colder months with 7 seasons of sarcasm, laughter and satire. Chris Pratt provides some easy watching eye candy for the show, and the incredible Aziz Ansari's character Tom Haverford is one of the show's highlights.

Get the Kylie Jenner Look with InTheStyle

Envious of Kylie Jenner's style and wardrobe like most of the internet these days? Me too!
However, with Kylie's looking being highly lusted after, we are not short of imitation pieces or similar clothing for a much smaller ticket price.

I've picked out some of InTheStyle's best pieces to achieve Kylie's look for less.

How to save money on Chanel Perfume and still smell fabulous

Ever wanted a Chanel perfume but then saw the price tag and then wanted to cry? Yep, me too.

I recently discovered that why should I spend £90 on a perfume when a product Chanel offers for a fraction of that price smells the exact same and actually lasts longer.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Secret Premiere

On Monday 7th September, I attended the secret screening/premiere of the sequel to The Maze Runner, called Maze Runner: Scorch Trials in London's West End/Leicester Square. Unaware to us at the time of winning invites, it was in fact the UK premiere of the film. We first thought it was just a pre-release screening. However there was no red carpet and a lot less stars compared to the USA premiere earlier this month. In fact, from what I could see in the dark room, the only stars watching the movie with us was Caspar Lee, Joe Sugg and Oli White. I assume they were invited to vlog and promote the movie on social media.

August Birchbox Beauty Junkie: Review

A few days ago, my August Birchbox arrived in the post. I did cancel my subscription 4 months ago as the last few boxes didn't intrigue me, however, AmeliaLiana on Youtube recently posted a Birchbox Unboxing haul and the products this month really interested me, mainly for the fact two beauty products were guaranteed and that she had a £5 off voucher. The code for £5 off is 'AMELIA' by the way if you want to use it too! Here is what my box included....

NARS Dupes

Let's be honest here, Make-Up Revolution will always be known for their sneaky yet sort of obvious dupes of higher end products. Although, I have yet to come across anybody mention (please excuse me however if you have mentioned this) the devious collection of Make Up Revolution's Baked Highlighting Lights Collection a dupe for all of NARS' highlighting powders collection.

High End Beauty Wish List

I have an ever-growing list of high beauty products that I wish I could simply pick up and buy, however life isn't that simple! However, I thought I would share a list of the products I have compiled that have been on my list for so long and I am constantly drooling over whenever I add them to my basket and then click the big red X in the top right hand corner. Sigh.

Homeware Brand Focus: H&M Home

Like many, I can't wait to finally earn enough money to move out and have my own place that I can decorate just how I like. Whilst, I am quite far away from this happening unless a miracle happens, I am quite content with looking weekly at interior design and homeware shops for constant inspiration. One shop I find myself online browsing through and always adding products to my invisible shopping basket is H&M Home. I love that they always have a connecting theme with the products they release, this summer has been marble and abstract prints with teal, coppers and mustard being the prominent colour scheme. This really inspired me, and when I finally have design control of my own place, teal, grey and copper will definitely be featuring!

Benefit's Do The Hoola

For my 22nd birthday earlier this month, I received the Benefit's new Do The Hoola Kit from my university chums! I was chuffed with the present as I have been meaning to get this when it first came out but I am stuck between the midst of student to unemployed and desperately looking for a job.

Tucked away in a tiny little corner of Birmingham famously called The Custard Factory is a girls make-up's dream... Cocktail Cosmetics. The wonderfully named shop sells international make up that is incredibly hard to get in the UK!

70's style at Boohoo

I will admit a few years ago I had many bad experiences with the quality of Boohoo's clothing. The material was often cheap, easily ripped and clingy. Fast forward to 2015 and they are now one of my go to clothing retailers for affordable and on trend clothing.

Boohoo have hit the nail on the head  this season with the 70s style offering a variety of crazy clothing in pasiley patterns and aztec prints.

Below are a few of the pieces that I think reflect the 70's trend perfectly, including in season cami tops, shirt dresses and suede. Last year many fashion blogs and magazines predicted the re-introduction of flares and they were right! Although personally I would not wear them as I feel I could not pull them off, they are perfect this summer for adding an on trend piece to simple daytime outfits and a staple for festivals and summer holidays. I included a tassel backpack bag in the collection as I believe this is perfect for the person who is afraid of trying clothing with heavy patterns but still wishes to have an accessory that reflects the latest trends.

What's your current favourite fashion trend?

Congratulations to all those who have passed University! Now comes the fun bit, finding a dress to wear to graduation. I've picked out a few dresses that have been catching my eye lately and thought I would share them. The dresses range from the classy cut and colours to a more summery feel, which I hope will reflect with the weather for everyone's graduation days. These are all within a perfectly reasonable budget for all the students that have been living off loans for the last three years!

Benefit's Operation Pore Proof

I am a huge fan of Benefit's quick fix it kits, having already owning three. The Benefit Operation Pore Proof is a very intriguing kit! I suffer heavily from oily skin so I cannot wait to get my hands on this kit. The most interesting part of the kit is the fact that it includes a brand new highlighter, however it's a matte highlighter. MATTE and HIGHLIGHTER in one sentence is very odd, however looking at swatches and demonstrations, I really think it could work. The new highlighter will called Shy Beam, which is very fitting to it's job. It will provide a small amount of highlight to the face, which I think will look very natural.

The kit also include sample sizes of the classic POREfessional Primer, Dr. Feelgood balm, POREfessional Agent Zero Shine powder and the new POREfessional License to Blot oil stick, also available soon. This could be one of Benefit's best selling kits, I believe. A lot of people suffer with oily skin and this kit can be the saviour for that offering quick fixes for oil prone skin and for the generic person looking to top up their make-up throughout the day without hassle of re-doing it!

Unfortunately, I'm just the average blogger so I have no exclusive pictures on the product, but it's rumoured to be out in End of June/early July, with an exclusive early sale in John Lewis.
